Agreed. It's a coup de brainwashing. I would not make this specific to Black people though, but people in general. So often white people get a free pass on this when the poor white people of this country were the victims of the monarchy before the British Empire existed which then overlapped with their brutal colonisation of various countries now part of The Global South. Furthermore, I would extend this critique to the celebrations of the Jubilee as well as "mourning" of the Queen's Death. The Honours System is one element of a culture that still celebrates and lionises the British Empire in many ways. Imperial warts and all!!
